Maids - 2008/05/07 11:55

Hi all mothers,

I am a new member to mumcentre online, and I am desparately seeking for opinions and advice on general MAIDS.

Firstly, I have 2 girls elder is turning to 4 while second is 10 mths, and I have a teenager indon maid. Believe me I am more stress than ever dealing with a preschooler, a baby, and a teenager on a daily basis. Still I am not insane just yet all under control, except that my indon maid gives me daily surprises or fantastic bluff which I am clueless of why she does that.

Anyhow, I am glad to learn that our govt MP wants to push for zero dependence of foreign maid due to the high influx of foreign maids in Msia. Well, I still need a domestic helper to help around but what are really my choices? To be honest, I want a change, I am heart sick with Indon maids. My mind is toying idea of hiring Orang Asli (where is their settlements?), anyone can tell me abt cambodia? or Myanmar maids?

Pls share with me your opinions, tell me stories love to read them all

Cheers

Hi Mikka,
Sorry to hear about the problem with your maid. I'm quite lucky to have a Phil maid who is of great help to me. I managed to get her not through an agency though. She came to KL under a tourist visa together wt 2 other Phil. I had gotten the chance to interview her first before confirming her. After that, I went thru a maid agency to help her process the necessary documents. It would have been cheaper if I were to know a runner who could do it for me (could just cost around RM2,500). As for Myanmar/Cambodian maids, my friend told me that language barrier poses a major problem coz she had experienced it before. Despite that, they can be of great help. I guess it wld depend on your luck. There are some of them who can speak basic English.

Cheers,
Carol

Hi Mikka,

Sorry to hear about your maid problem. Previously I also had such problem with my Indon maid whereby she did a lot of stupid things to me. But luckily now i did not hire any maid as my boy is in primary school. I also heard that the Cambodian and Myanmar maids are worsen than Indon maid as the language conversation problem. If you hire them, I think your heart feel more sickening. Please think seriously before you make such decision.

Good luck!
